Help applying for SNAP food assistance, from the first form to the documents that go with it.
What the application actually needs
Proof of who lives in the household, proof of income for each of them, and details of rent, utilities and other expenses. Missing one document is the most common reason an application stalls. We go through the list with you before anything is submitted.
Filled in with you, not for you
We sit down together and work through the questions one at a time. If something does not apply to your situation, we say so. If something needs a document you do not have yet, we tell you where it usually comes from.
Renewals and changes too
Benefits have to be renewed, and a change in income or household usually has to be reported. If you have a letter you do not understand or a deadline coming up, bring it in.
What we help with
- New SNAP applications
- Renewals and recertifications
- Reporting changes in income or household
- Going through the required documents with you
- Help understanding letters and notices
- Face to face, in the office
Frequently asked about food stamps (snap)
Photo ID, Social Security numbers for everyone in the household, proof of income such as pay stubs or benefit letters, and your rent or mortgage and utility bills. If you are not sure, bring what you have and we will tell you what is missing.
